We are very excited that the Hilton Hotel in downtown Palm Springs asked us to give a makeover to their five Presidential Suites.
The suites themselves are generous, with a powder room, living room, wet bar, bedroom and very spacious bathroom featuring walk-in showers and soaking tubs.
The last time the suites were done was well over a decade ago, which is a long time in the life of a hotel room. It was definitely time for a makeover!
The Living Room - Before
The suites before were quite drab and very, well, brown. They were a hybrid of the popular "Tuscan" style from the mid 2000s in California, with a few midcentury updates -- like the lamps in the living room and the swivel chair in the bedroom.
Does this say "Palm Springs" to you?
Above: the living room when we first walked the property. Remember, these are supposed to be among their best rooms!
The Bedroom - Before
Let's just say that the crown moulding and the pleated curtains will be among the first things to go.
Our Design Plan
We plan to make things juicy and bright, with colors that make you want to dive right in!
Palm Springs is a resort town, after all, and many of the hotel guests will be on vacation. We want them to feel that way! Our plan is fresh and current, with tones of sand and cream mixed with accents of turquoise, aqua, and green.
We want to respect the midcentury of Palm Springs, with a few nods to MCM furniture and design, while keeping the overall look contemporary and modern.
We start with a mood board showing preliminary selections, to illustrate our design intent to the clients.
Below is our mood board for the Living Rooms...
And here is our Mood Board for the Bedrooms...
After the clients approved the preliminary design,
we created detailed plans and specifications.
We created an illustrated, full color, floor plan so that hotel ownership can really visualize our design intent.
We also created realistic renderings of the main spaces.
What a difference this is going to be!
We can't wait to share the Big Reveal with you all!
Check back next time for the full "After" photos..
Cheers,
I adore the new modern and fresh designs. The hotel is sure to be much more popular with this new aesthetic!
Love the new design plan!
I have stayed there many times.
Love the living room and bedroom separate.
